Francine Sweet, "La Quica" has been dancing since the age of five. She began studying Flamenco dance with Luis Ramon, a madrileno living in Auckland, New Zealand. Guitarist Gerardo Alcala encouraged a move to Vancouver in her early twenties and that marked the beginning of a performing career among North American and Spanish artists.
In Spain, she has acquired extensive training from leading artists such as Alejandro Granados, Maria Bermudez, Belen Fernandez, "La Tati", and Ana Maria Lopez.
Recently, she has worked in the tablao, "El Laga de Tio Parilla" in Jerez de la Frontera, and also performed professionally in Spain with prominent artists, Fernando Soto, Luis Agujetez and guitarist Nino Jero.
In recent years, she has taught general classes for Mozaico Flamenco in Vancouver and conducted workshops in Victoria, BC and Calgary, Alberta.
Her style employs elements of modern dance technique, but derives inspiration from the traditional Flamenco in Jerez, Andalucia.
