From Zimbabwe, Black Umfolosi is an internationally acclaimed group of harmonic a-cappella singers and traditional African gumboot dancers, featuring 11 performers. Their songs, and their work, speak of a committed mission toward bettering the lives of Southern African people, and to creating racial harmony. Through their uplifting vocals and dynamic dancing, Umfolosi entertains and inspires!

"Marvelous harmonies.spine-tingling gospel singing.bare-torsoed, hard-hatted gum-boot dancing!" -Glasgow Herald

"...Extraordinarily exuberant dancers.stunning, colourful and one-hundred percent engaging." -The Scotsman

Black Umfolosi is a multi-disciplinary performing arts group based in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. They are compared to the likes of Ladysmith Black Mambazo of South Africa, and they regularly tour to the UK, Europe, Canada, and the United States. They have released a number of recordings that feature the diverse singing styles of Southern Africa. Their songs combine the mythical with the contemporary in addressing the social issues affecting people in Zimbabwe, and people around the world. Their dynamic live performances also showcase the traditional dancing styles of the Southern African region as well as original contemporary styles. They have represented Zimbabwe as "cultural ambassadors" at the World Expo in Spain, and at many other international events. The evening will also include displays of Southern African arts, food, and info on social issues.
