On October 28 and 29, members of the Calgary flamenco community will come together to present a smorgasbord of dance styles and interpretations for the show entitled ¡FLAMENCO!.
“¡FLAMENCO! will feature a collection of dancers that normally don’t perform together,” says co-producer and dancer, Rosanna Terracciano. “It will be a treat as performers to work alongside one another; but it will also be a great treat for the audience to receive exposure to such a wide spectrum of dance styles. The show will emphasize how very individualistic flamenco truly is: As with any art form, each performer’s interpretation is personal and, in turn, unique.”
Producers Graziella Terracciano and Rosanna Terracciano have created ¡FLAMENCO! with the aim of showcasing the diverse talents abound in Calgary’s flamenco circle. Besides receiving extensive training in Canada, all dancers and the accompanying guitarist have also studied flamenco in Spain. The combined years of training and dedication have helped form a Calgary flamenco community that is rich in diversity, flavour and knowledge. The show will feature some of these differences and, more importantly: introduce Calgarians to this art form/cultural artifact; educate; and hopefully ignite a shared passion.
The repertoire for ¡FLAMENCO! will feature traditional flamenco forms, performed by Calgary dancers, Francesca Canalizo, Tracy Cumberbatch, Maria Regnier, and Rosanna Terracciano, to the accompaniment of guitarist, David Matyas.
