Virginia Pozo
Flamenco Dance Workshop
April 12 – 24, 2005
Calgary, Alberta
Virginia Pozo Biography
Virginia was born into a family of flamenco artists from
Malaga in the region of Andalusia Spain, “The Tanos”. At an early age Virginia was surrounded by flamenco through her
father and uncles who were all singers. From her formative years she is
engrossed in flamenco; from daily living to festivals; cultural interactions,
and theaters.
Her dance is developed and
nourished through masters such as Sea Manolo, Concha Vargas or Juana Amaya; but
equally from individual and professional encounters that allow for her to
enhance and reinforce her passion.
Respected and recognized by the purists, Virginia is appreciated for the
graphic quality and beauty of her training: a technique, that naturally,
improves through the purity and continuous experience of the dance and
life.
She is “flamenco” in all
her depth: purity, fire, sensitiveness, and an internal force giving to her
dance a “je ne sais quoi”, a bursting of herself.
She is recognized at all
the important festivals and has toured and taught in Switzerland, Canada,
Spain, Saudi Arabia, Ile de la Reunion, Germany, Greece. ...
One recognizes in her a
fascinating temperament and an innate understanding of the rhythm. She develops a “Gitano” style. In 1992, she creates her own company “ Ser
flamenco”, and travels the theaters in France and surrounding countries,
working with their musicians.
The dance is her
extraordinary expression of her values; is personal by her passion, and one of
liberty.
Virginia is constantly
called to give training in flamenco dance in France and to other
countries.
